Kirigakure no Sato
Kekkei Genkai/Special Ability/Bloodlimit:
Kai contains a seal on his face that was given to him at birth. The seals are two chevrons, one under each eye. When Kai was born, he was an exceptionally frail child that could barely breathe or move. His parents gave him a seal to help the newborn survive. This seal is activated when Kai’s stamina is dangerously low. When the seal is activated, Kai’s stamina is healed. Also, Kai becomes protected from taijutsu attacks and weak ninjutsu. When the Seal of Protection is activated, it forms a green shield that covers the body. Extensive use of this seal, will knock Kai out or cause a serious injury. The drawback to this seal is that it relies on Kai’s body cells to supply the energy to become stronger, therefore Kai frequently experiences sudden bouts of pain and is vulnerable to sickness. Also, Kai is usually always tired. To him, the Seal of Protection is a curse and a blessing.

History:
Akiyama Kaizou was born in Village Hidden In The Mist, in Mizu no Kuni. He was the seventh child of Akiyama Ishimaru, a jounin and Akiyama Mai, a young woman who owned a small restaurant. Unfortunately, Kai was a sickly baby and had many operations performed by medical ninja on him upon birth. Kai was so sickly and feeble, that medic ninjas placed a seal on the boy’s body, hoping it would give Kai the strength to live.
Fortunately, it did. Sadly, Mai died from the childbirth. Ishimaru could not comprehend how a healthy young woman who had given birth to six other children could have died from another one. As a result, Ishimaru look at Kai as the reason why his wife was dead. After Kai finally reached the age where he could somewhat walk and talk, Ishimaru awarded Meiko, his only daughter, the responsibility of caring for and raising him.
Eventually, the genin’s family sold Mai’s old restaurant and moved into a lower class neighborhood. Kai slowly grew in strength and age but was still prone to fits of pain and weakness. Ishimaru was a busy man and quickly became annoyed and frustrated at the boy’s frailty. The slightest show of weakness set Ishimaru off and usually he ended up taking out his frustration on Kai or Meiko. Ishimaru blamed Mai’s death on Kai because he thought if Kai was never born, Mai would still be alive. As a result, Ishimaru continued to ignore Kai. The boy’s other older siblings were all rowdy, tough boys that teased Kai for his inability to keep up with them physically and for the bond he had with their older sister.
Kai was always the runt in the family, and that fact did not change as Kai grew up. Ishimaru instructed his children in the family taijutsu. Kai grew much stronger and less vulnerable to sickness and bouts of weakness. Because his father and brothers ignored him, Kai was brought up in a small world that mainly consisted of the constant teasing of Still, Kai’s six older siblings grew stronger from their father’s training and from the ninja training they received from various jounin. Most of them ended up becoming guards for Lords, Ladies, and Kages, or they became oinin.
Kai on the other hand, was never cut from the same mold; he struggled with the family taijutsu and only managed to master the basics. Because of his slowness to manage what Ishimaru felt were the most worthy things a shinobi should know, he ended up toiling much harder than the other children, under the harsh and critical scrutiny of his father. He favored his other children and ignored Kai’s desires.
Kai was forced into a daily two mile run, 100 push ups, 100 sit ups, and instruction on family taijutsu. After that the boy was straight off to the Academy. This also caused the Seal of Protection’s negatives aspects to come out. The seal cause Kai many sleepless, painful nights. Kai was always proficient in ninjutsu and mediocre in taijutsu. He generally, dozed off in class but managed to get good grades. Often times Kai would get frustrated at the other children’s success and his weakness. The young shinobi got into many fights and arguments with the teacher and students. Kai hoped to get attention from his father but the frequent fights only increased Ishimaru’s disgust at Kai.
When Kai graduated from the Academy, he made a goal to become an oinin so that he could be accepted by his father. He was put on a three-man genin team. When he graduated from the Academy, Kai spent much time developing his own jutsu. Eventually he invented a few jutsu and learned to control his seal.
RP Sample:
A familiar wetness clung to Kai’s body as he stepped outside. Groaning, he stretched his arms and legs and glanced up at the sky. The sunlight reflected off the mist of The Land of Mist to make an ostentatious show of colors. Kai blinked his eyes rapidly, creating random blue, yellow, and purple silhouettes of the sun. The mist turned to beads of water as it came in contact with the genin’s skin. The boy turned to the right and gazed out at the small forest adjacent to his house. Kai listened closely to see if his siblings or if his father was waking. Hearing no sounds, except for his own steady pulse, Kai took a deep breath and took off. The shinobi’s breath floated up in a swirling cloud of smoke as Kai jumped into a small copse. It was the middle of autumn and the tree’s leaves blinded Kai with there deep reds, bright yellows, and mellow oranges.
He jumped onto the strong branch of an oak tree. The tree seemed to creek in rebellion. Small birds flitted out of the tree, whistling shrilly. Kai’s bare feet caused a steady beat as they jumped on each limb of the tree. Kai leaped form tree to tree, hoping to find the small stream that ran through this woods. The fixed thumping of Kai’s feet, combined with the gentle, melodic trilling of the small brown sparrows in the grayish blue sky. The swishing and rustling of the trees in the wind and the babbling of the thin, blue, glinting stream formed a beautiful countermelody.
Kai stopped and held his breath and listen. He listened to the harmonious union of the sounds. He closed his eyes and looked serene as the melody of the forest filled him. How he loved the feeling of being in the forest. How he loved the rough texture of the bark his bare feet stood upon. How he loved the exhilaration of darting through the air, with only the rushing of the wind and the dampness of the eternal mist to accompany him. He was alone; away from all the idiots at the Academy or his loud, older brothers. Here, he was complete.
